Poinsettias

The traditional poinsettia in a non-traditional guise.

There are few plants that are so closely associated with the month of December as the poinsettia. At the end of the year, the poinsettia is one of the most sold flowering pot plants. We also distinguish ourselves in the large quantities of poinsettias that traditionally come onto the market at the end of the year: with exuberant poinsettias in large pot sizes, of 21 and 32 centimetres. This gives the well-known December bloomer an exclusive accent.

A potted plant that attracts attention everywhere and at all times

‘Red’ also means for the poinsettia: stop. Stop for a moment to enjoy the beauty of a Christmas star in an XL pot. In those special pot sizes, the flowering pot plant has grown into a real eye-catcher. One that really comes into its own in places where this beautiful plant gets extra space and the attention it deserves. Such as an eye-catching spot in the living room, the entrance to an office, or a beautiful spot in a restaurant.

Care tips

Place the poinsettia in a light place but not in direct sunlight

The poinsettia, or Christmas star, likes a bright spot, but avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn. Place the plant in a room with a constant temperature between 15-22 °C. Make sure the poinsettia is not near draughty windows or doors: sudden changes in temperature can cause damage. Also keep the plant away from cold surfaces and heat sources such as radiators.

Water, preferably with lukewarm water

Water the poinsettia regularly, but make sure the potting soil can drain well to prevent root rot. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Preferably use lukewarm water. Avoid allowing the pot to sit in a saucer of water, as excess water can be harmful to the roots and the overall health of the plant.
