Nursery Tim van Leeuwen grows three flowering pot plants in Honselersdijk: the Medinilla, the hydrangea and the poinsettia. Our focus is mainly on high quality. We do this at a modern company, built in 2018 with all the facilities for optimal business operations. With a surface area of 5.6 hectares, we are large enough to produce efficiently. And at the same time we are small enough to give cultivation, employees and the environment maximum attention.

It was father Cock van Leeuwen who laid the foundation for what is now nursery Tim van Leeuwen. At that time as a chrysanthemum grower, located in Wateringen. With the arrival of Tim in the company in 2009, the focus shifted to potted plants. Initially the potted hydrangea, with the poinsettia as an autumn crop. In 2018, the nursery moved to Honselersdijk. After purchasing an adjacent location, a modern company of 5.6 hectares was created, of which 1 hectare is outdoor cultivation.
With the acquisition of nursery Atlantis we became a Medinilla specialist.
In 2020, nursery Tim van Leeuwen was given the opportunity to take over the Medinilla cultivation from nursery Atlantis. It was also Atlantis that brought the Philippine beauty to the Netherlands in 1975. The Medinilla still has that exclusive status, with only two growers in Europe. Atlantis not only focused on cultivation, but also on breeding since 2003. With Marjolein Scheffers - wife of Tim and daughter of former Atlantis owner Rob - that expertise has been retained.

Every crop has its own requirements and the conditions are precisely tailored to this: the climate, the watering and the cultivation procedures. The result: high-quality plants that distinguish themselves by their shelf life.

That is why we grow partly on rolling containers, which make the work considerably easier, and we work with conveyor belts. Automation and mechanization already take over a lot of manual work.
